Description

This collection of poetry reads like a meditation. It is an ode to the author’s cat, Sufi who adopted her family and shared her house with these devoted human guardians and other felines.

With Wallis’s elegant illustrations and words guiding us through the wonders of this most exceptional Siamese cat, we find ourselves sitting in the garden observing clouds, basking in the serenity of willow trees, fishing, house-boating and being home alone waiting for loved ones to return.

The author’s quirky rhyming and vivid imagery perfectly capture Sufi’s attitude and feline charm, and cat lovers of all ages will recognise their own personal experiences.

Although these poems are written from a cat’s perspective, they relate strongly to human frailty, loss and loneliness and how important family bonds are to us. Cats, after all, are meditation masters and remind us to be in the present.

Art and text combine to form a delightful tribute to a much loved pet. These are poems of praise.
