Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction In Gay Men (2nd Ed.)
I don't have a problem. Having a lot of sex is just what gay guys do... right?
Conflicting messages abound for gay men regarding sex. Broadly speaking, gay male culture places less emphasis on monogamy and fidelity than straight culture while offering more extensive opportnities for casual/anonymous sex. For most gay men, this is't a problem. But for some the temptations can become all consuming. Rather than liberating gay men, these social senes can actually imprison them. When lying, secrecy, escalation, the resulting negative consequences and out of control sexual behaviour become commonplace, it's time to seek help.
