Title - Seven Sisters of the Pleiades
Seven Sisters of the Pleiades
Andrews, Munya
What do Atlases, Halloween, Atlantis, Subaru, the American Presidential elections, the Petticoat Lane markets in London and the ship Titanic all have in common?
Each can be traced to the legends of the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades.
Designated at M45 on astronomy charts and maps, this small group of stars is individually named after the seven sisters from Ancient Greek myth, including the stars' parents Atlas and Pleione. Revered all over the world, these stars have left an indelible mark on the human psyche and upon our collective unconscious where they continue to intrigue humanity.
In Ancient Egypt they were the Seven Fates who foretold the destiny of each child. The Parthenon in Athens, The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and the Mayan Temple of the Sun in Cuzco are all said to be aligned with the Pleiades.
The author explores fascinating facts across time and cultures including indigenous cultures from Australia, Aoteroa/New Zealand, the Americas and Japan.
The book includes colour plates. (Spinifex)
